NetEvents CXO Leadership Round Tables

The Gerkin

25 September, 2019

THE THEME

It is an exciting time for technology leaders, but also one with in-built and shifting challenges. Key to an organisation’s success and competitive edge is in creating pioneering pathways to digital transformation as well as robust ways to deal with security.

How can companies become more agile and remain secure while evolving through incumbent systems? What are the transformational cloud tools and AI game changers you need to know about? What are the incoming regulatory frameworks you need to know about?

Current industry challenges in leadership: how do we achieve buy-in from non tech leaders, what are the upcoming threats within fintech cybersecurity, how do we create the network capacity safe from incoming threats. Data gathering and sharing can improve fintech products by creating multi-vendor portals and products but can also lead to breaches. The use of AI can improve offerings while also learning (and perpetuating) illegal bias against underserved groups.

We invite you to come and discuss, network and share knowledge with industry leaders, technologists and peers.
In addition, the CxO round-tables will be featured in IT/Finance publications across the globe.

WHY ATTEND?

  • Keep abreast of hot and disruptive technologies, industry trends and the latest research from leading independent analysts and technologists.

Where & When?

25th September at The Gherkin, 8:30am in Central London

8:30 – 9.30 amNetworking and refreshments
9.30 – 10.30 am CxO Round Table: Industry Update: Financial Technology Trends, Opportunities, and Real-World Concerns
Introduced & Chaired by Daniel Garcia, Global Corporate Banking – Senior Research Analyst, IDC Financial Insights

Financial technology, or fintech, is one of the fast-moving opportunities today, as existing banks and other institutions are joining well-funded startups in creating new products. Some are geared at consumers, while others are for institutions or investors. Key to fintech’s success: strong security, increasing consumer trust of using their mobiles for banking, a generally friendly regulatory environment; and powerful tools like cloud computing and artificial intelligence. This session will discuss the most exciting opportunities in fintech, and the underlying technologies that will enable innovations. For example: Fintech requires massive data centers, and data center operations need to be able to squeeze every drop of performance from their hardware and networks — while also being able to reconfigure to handle new workloads and applications. Servers in the data center and in the cloud need to move vast quantities of information to/from storage, in order to feed fast-growing analytics and AI engines. And consumers and branch offices need cost-effective, agile and super-secure means of connecting to those data centers and cloud applications, without the risk of the Internet or the cost and inflexibility of MPLS.Fintech is big, complicated, and requires bold thinking and advanced technologies – so come to this session to learn and join the discussion.
10:30 – 11:00 amRefreshments & informal ‘networking’
11:00 – 12:00 noonCxO Round Table: Locks Won’t Keep You Safe: The Cybersecurity Implications of Digital Transformation
Introduced & chaired by Brian Lord OBE, Managing Director, Cyber, PGI (former GCHQ Deputy Director for Intelligence & Cyber Operations)

Before businesses went digital, it was easy to secure ledger books in the accounting department’s drawers, cash in the safe, and customer records in a file cabinet. A few sturdy locks and security guards keep intruders out and valuable assets in. Today: Not so easy. With everything from regulated personal data to intellectual property to even digital currencies, everything might be accessible to hackers. Corporate crown jewels can be stolen using phished credentials and a network connection – in a matter of milliseconds. This roundtable will talk about the cybersecurity threats of digital transformation – and also approaches to preventing those threats from turning into successful attacks. We will examine the role of managed security services in addressing phishing, ransomware, data theft, and mobile malware. We will see how advanced cryptography and blockchain can reduce the risks of IoT, cloud computing, digital payments, enterprise applications and the ecosystem. We will explore how networking-as-a-service (NaaS) can embed Zero-Trust and Least Privileged Access into any applications using fast APIs, scaling digital transformation faster and with higher security than traditional VPNs and private circuits.Business is going digital – and old-fashioned security just won’t cut it any more. Let’s talk about tech that delivers on the agility, and potential, of real digital transformation.
